Exfoliation

Exfoliation explained in an easy to understand way:

Imagine peeling an onion, where each layer comes off to reveal another beneath it. This is similar to the process of exfoliation in geology, where layers of rock gradually break off to expose new layers underneath. Just as the onion’s outer layers dry out and loosen due to handling and environmental exposure, rocks experience temperature changes, pressure, and natural weathering that cause their outer layers to separate and flake off, revealing fresh surfaces below.
