Imagine you're trying to find a parking spot in a crowded parking lot, with tall SUVs and trucks blocking your view. Just like the challenge of navigating this situation, a forest canopy is a dense covering formed by the leafy tops of tall trees that can obscure what lies beneath. In both cases, the obstruction of your view by something larger—be it vehicles or tree leaves—creates a shielded environment, where you can only see what's directly in front of you rather than the entire picture.
