Dead Zone
Imagine you're at a crowded concert where the air conditioning breaks down, making it hard to breathe and enjoy the experience. This is similar to what happens in a "dead zone" in coastal waters, where low oxygen levels make it difficult for marine life to survive. Just as the lack of fresh air at the concert makes it uncomfortable and unsustainable for people to stay, the hypoxic conditions in dead zones create an environment where marine life struggles to thrive, due to insufficient oxygen to support their needs.
