Algal Bloom

Imagine how a small kitchen sink can quickly overflow if you accidentally leave the tap running. This is similar to an algal bloom, where nutrients in a water body, like fertilizers from runoff, cause algae to grow rapidly and uncontrollably. Just as the tap continuously adds water until it spills over, excess nutrients provide a constant supply of "food" for algae, leading to their sudden and explosive growth, overwhelming the aquatic environment much like water overwhelms the sink.
