Imagine trying to break a piece of hard candy, but instead of snapping cleanly, it shatters into jagged, unpredictable pieces. This is similar to what happens when a mineral undergoes an irregular fracture, where it breaks along surfaces that aren't smooth or uniform. Just like the candy, a mineral with an irregular fracture doesn't have a predictable pattern of breakage, resulting in rough, uneven surfaces, much like the uneven shards of your shattered candy.
